Muhammad Abdullah Ghazi (1935–1998) was a leading Pakistani Islamic scholar. He is best known for being the first prayer leader and preacher of Islamabad's famous Lal Masjid (Red Mosque). He founded and led several important Islamic schools, including Jamia Faridia.[1][2][3]
Ghazi was also an important political figure who advised the government on religious laws, helped create Pakistan's Zakat system, and served on several national councils. He was awarded the Sitara-i-Imtiaz, a high civilian award, for his public service.[4][5]
He was the father of Abdul Rashid Ghazi and Abdul Aziz Ghazi.[6]
He was assassinated by unknown attackers in 1998.[7][6]
