Mu'awiya Ould Sid'Ahmed al-Taya (Arabic: معاوية ولد سيد أحمد الطايع, romanized: Muʿāwiya Walad Sayyidī Aḥmad al-Ṭāyaʿ; born November 28, 1943) is a Mauritanian military officer and a politician. He was the President of Mauritania from 1984 to 2005. He was also the 5th Prime Minister of Mauritania from April 1981 to March 1984 and then from December 1984 to April 1992.[1]
