Morgan Barron (born December 2, 1998) is a Canadian professional ice hockey forward. He currently plays for the Winnipeg Jets of the National Hockey League (NHL). He has also played for the New York Rangers.

Career

Before playing in the NHL, Barron played five regular season games with the Sioux City Musketeers of the United States Hockey League (USHL) and four years with the Cornell Big Red of ECAC Hockey. He had a successful time with his teams. With the Big Red, he was named to the All-ECAC Hockey first-team twice, All-Ivy League first team twice, AHCA First-Team All-American first team, and was named ECAC Hockey Player of the Year.[1][2][3][4][5]

He was drafted 174th overall by the New York Rangers in the 2017 NHL entry daft.[6] On July 31, 2020, Barron signed a three-year entry-level contract to join the Rangers.[7] He was sent down to play for their AHL-affiliate Hartford Wolf Pack.

On May 1, 2021, Barron made his NHL debut in a 3–0 loss against the New York Islanders.[8] On May 5, Barron scored his first NHL goal against Vítek Vaněček in a 4–2 loss against the Washington Capitals.[9]

On March 21, 2022, the Rangers traded Barron along with a 2023 fifth-round draft pick, and two 2022 conditional second-round draft picks to the Winnipeg Jets in exchange for Andrew Copp and a 2023 sixth-round draft pick.[10] On July 17, 2023, Barron signed a two-year, $2.7 million contract to stay with the Jets.[11] On Jul 14, 2025, Barron signed a two-year, $3.7 million contract to stay with the Jets.[12]

Personal life

Barron's younger brother Justin is also a professional hockey player in the NHL.[13]
