Maurice A. Ferré (June 23, 1935 – September 19, 2019) was an American politician. He was a six-term Mayor of Miami, from 1973 through 1985. Ferré was the first Puerto Rican-born United States mayor and the first Hispanic Mayor of Miami.[1]
He was an unsuccessful candidate in the 2010 elections for the U.S. Senate seat for Florida vacated by Mel Martínez for the Democratic primary.
Ferré died on September 19, 2019 at a Miami hospital from spinal cancer at the age of 84.[2]
