Matthew Rempe (born June 29, 2002) is a Canadian professional ice hockey centre. He currently plays for the New York Rangers of the National Hockey League (NHL).
Career
Before playing in the NHL, Rempe played parts of three seasons with the Seattle Thunderbirds of the Western Hockey League (WHL).
He was drafted 165th overall by the New York Rangers in the 2020 NHL entry draft.[1] On November 3, 2021, he signed a three-year, entry-level contract to join the Rangers.[2] He was immediately sent down to play for their AHL-affiliate Hartford Wolf Pack. On February 18, 2024, the Rangers called him up and he made his NHL debut during the 2024 NHL Stadium Series in a 6–5 overtime win against the New York Islanders. He became the first NHL player to make their debut during a game outdoors.[3] On February 22, the NHL suspended Rempe after he illegally hit New Jersey Devils player Nathan Bastian in the head.[4] On February 24, Rempe scored his first NHL goal against Samuel Ersson in a 4–2 loss against the Philadelphia Flyers.[5] Rempe was suspended for four games after he elbowed Devils' player Jonas Siegenthaler in the head on March 11.[6]
On June 18, 2025, Rempe signed a two-year, $1.95 million to stay with the Rangers.[7]
