Matthew Coronato (born November 14, 2002) is an American professional ice hockey winger. He currently plays for the Calgary Flames of the National Hockey League (NHL).

Career

Before playing in the NHL, Coronato played two seasons with the Chicago Steel of the United States Hockey League (USHL) and two years with the Harvard Crimson of ECAC Hockey (ECAC). He had a successful time with his teams. With the Steel, he was named the USHL Forward of the Year and was also named to both the All-Rookie Second Team and All-USHL First Team.[1][2][3]

The 2020–21 season was very successful for the team, finishing with a record of 38–11–3 and being awarded the Anderson Cup as regular season champions. He helped the Steel when they went on a run in the playoffs. They defeated the Dubuque Fighting Saints and Muskegon Lumberjacks in the opening rounds. They went on to defeat the Fargo Force three games to one in the Final to win the Clark Cup.[4] With the Crimson, he was named a AHCA East Second Team All-American and was also named to both the ECAC All-Rookie Team and All-ECAC Second Team.[5][6][7]

He was drafted 13th overall by the Calgary Flames in the 2021 NHL entry draft.[8] On March 15, 2022, Coronato signed a three-year, $925,000 entry-level contract to join the Flames.[9]

On December 13, 2025, Coronato made his NHL debut in a 3–1 win against the San Jose Sharks.[10] On April 20, Coronato scored his first NHL goal against Alex Nedeljkovic on the power play in a 5–2 loss against the Pittsburgh Penguins.[11] The next season, he was sent down to play for their AHL-affiliate Calgary Wranglers before being called back up after the season.

On May 3, 2025, Coronato signed a seven-year, $45.5 million contract to stay with the Flames.[12]
