Marji' (Arabic: مرجع, transliteration: marjiʿ; plural: marājiʿ), also known as a marji' taqlīd (Arabic: مرجع تقليد) or marji' dīnī (Arabic: مرجع ديني), is a title given to the highest level of Twelver Shia authority. The Grand Ayatollah has power given by a hawzah to make legal decisions within Islamic law for followers and clerics.[1]
