Leonard Hoops is an American tourism executive. He is the President and CEO of Visit Indy and Tourism Tomorrow Indy.[1][2]

Early life and education

Hoops was born in Trinidad.[3] He got a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from San Jose State University in 1987. Later, he earned an MBA in marketing from Santa Clara University in 1992.[1]

Career

Hoops started his career at FMC Corporation as a Public Relations Supervisor. After FMC, he moved into tourism. He worked as Senior Vice President of Marketing at the San Jose Convention & Visitors Bureau[4] and then as Senior VP & Chief Marketing Officer at the Sacramento Convention & Visitors Bureau.[3]

In 2006, he joined the San Francisco Travel Association as Executive Vice President and Chief Customer Officer where he led international tourism programs in 13 countries.[5][6][7]

In 2011, he became President and CEO of Visit Indy.[8][9][10][11] In 2018, he received the Indiana Living Legend award from the Indiana Historical Society.[12][13]
