LNER Thompson Class A2/2

The LNER Thompson Class A2/2 was class of 6 4-6-2 type steam locomotives built in 1943-1944 designed by Vincent Ravens son in law Edward Thompson (Locomotive Engineer) . These locomotives were rebuilds of the LNER Class P2 2-8-2 Locomotives originally designed and built by Sir Nigel Gresley in 1934-1936 however due to World War 2 caused by Adolf Hitler’s Germany Thompson could not design or built new express locomotives designed for to pull mix traffic trains . All the LNER Thompson Class A2/2’s were scrapped in 1961 .
