He created the Tamil book Thillana Mohanambal. He was given the Padma Shri, a very famous award. Ashokitram said that Subbu was the No. 2 of the very big Gemini Studios in Chennai (was known as Madras), South India for over 30 years and was a close friend of S. S. Vasan, who established those studios and gave out to the public the popular Tamil weekly magazine Ananda Vikatan.[2][3][4]
