Klamath County ( KLAM -əth ) is a county which is in the U.S. state of Oregon . The county was named after the Klamath . The Klamath were the tribe of Native Americans living in the area when the first European explorers found the region . As of 2020[update] , 69,413 people live there.[ 1] The county seat is at Klamath Falls .

The U.S. Census Bureau says that the county has an area of 6,136 square miles (15,892.2 km2 ). 5,944 square miles (15,394.9 km2 ) is land and 192 square miles (497.3 km2 ) (3.12%) is water.

Klamath County is represented in the Oregon House of Representatives by two Republicans . These people are E. Werner Reschke and Emily McIntire . Klamath County is represented in the Oregon State Senate by Republican Dennis Linthicum . Cliff Bentz , also a Republican, is Klamath County's representative in the United States House . The county has voted for Republican politicians for many years. The last time a Democratic candidate for US president represented Klamath County was in 1964 .
