Kelly Barnhill is (born December 7, 1973) is a writer that writes books for children, teens, and adults. She lives in Minneapolis with her husband, three children, and her dog.
International Fame
Kelly Barnhill is an author. She is best known for writing children's stories about magic.[1] Her most famous books are “The Girl Who Drank the Moon”, “When Women Were Dragons”, and “The Ogress and the Orphans”. She won a Newbery Medal for the book “The Girl Who Drank the Moon”.[2] She won this award in 2017.[2][3]She has also accepted help from the Jerome Foundation and the Minnesota State Arts Board.[1]

Kelly Barnhill has won two big awards from her books. She has been picked to win awards twelve times all together. She won the Newbery Award and the Mythopoeic Award.[3] She was picked to win the Newbery Award, the Mythopoeic Award, the Dragon Award, the Losic Award, the Mythopoeic Award, and the WSFA Small Press Award.[3]
