Katherine Wilson Sheppard (10 March 1847, Liverpool, England – 13 July 1934, Christchurch, New Zealand) was a New Zealand activist for women's rights. She helped get women the right to vote in New Zealand. Kate Sheppard moved to Scotland when she was young.[1] She was born with the name Catherine Wilson Malcolm.[1] Her father died in 1862.[2] She moved to New Zealand in 1869 and married at age 24.[2] She had 2 husbands, one son, and one grandchild.[3]
Sheppard is on the New Zealand ten dollar note.
