John Berlinger Breaux (/ˈbr/; born March 1, 1944) is an American attorney and retired politician. He was a United States Senator from Louisiana from 1987 until 2005. He was also a member of the US House of Representatives from 1972 to 1987. He was a conservative Democrat.[2]
