James "Jimmy" Perry OBE (9 September 1923 – 23 October 2016) was an English writer, scriptwriter, producer, author and actor who is known for creating the BBC sitcom Dad's Army.
Perry was born on September 9, 1923 in Barnes, Surrey, England.[1] He studied at Colet Court and at St Paul's School. Perry lived in Algarve, Portugal.
Perry died in London on 23 October 2016 at the age of 93.[2]
