James Lawrence Levine (; June 23, 1943 – March 9, 2021)[1] was an American conductor and pianist. He was known for being music director of the Metropolitan Opera from 1976 until 2016. He was fired from the Met on March 12, 2018, over sexual misconduct allegations.[2] He also performed with the Boston Symphony Orchestra.
In 1994, Levine was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease.[3]
Levine died in his Palm Springs home on March 9, 2021 at the age of 77.[1] The cause was problems caused by Parkinson's disease.[4]
