Mario Rubén González (Born, June 16, 1949), better known as Jairo, is an Argentine singer-songwriter.[1][2]
Mercedes Sosa herself considered him "the best voice in Argentina."

He was born on June 16, 1949, in Cruz del Eje, Córdoba, Argentina. He has a brother named Jorge González. His beginnings as a singer began in school, where he joined the group "The Twisters Boys" and eventually adopted the name "Marito González" on game shows in the Córdoba media.[3]
In 1970, along with a high school classmate, he distributed a twelve-song demo to various music producers; this led to the recording of a single with two tracks.

Private life
He has four children: Iván González, an actor; Mario González, a lawyer who lives in France and is a councilor for the 18th district of Paris (2015), Yaco, who lives in Argentina and represents his father, and Lucía, an art historian who has lived in Milan, Italy, since 2015.
On July 29, 2021, his wife Teresa Sainz de los Terreros, of whom he had been married for 49 years, passed away due to a chronic illness.
