Jack Hoogland (10 July 1946 – 4 December 2024) was a Dutch football player who played as a midfielder. He played with FC Volendam in the Eredivisie between 1965 and 1978.
Biography
Hoogland started with the junior team of FC Volendam. With the junior team he became national champion in 1964.[1] Hoogland became a member of the main senior team the next year in 1965. He played a total of 259 matches with the senior team and scored fourteen times. He was also captain of the team.[1][2] In the Eredivisie, the highest division of the Netherlands, he played 109 matches and scored seven times.[3] He is described as the 'de stille motor' (translated: the silent enginge) of the team because he was an important player, but was not in the foreground.[4] Next to playing in the Eredivisie he played with the team in the Eerste Divisie and became champion in 1967 and 1970.[2] He played with FC Volendam until 1978.[3]
Hoogland was born in Volendam on 10 July 1946.[2] Hoogland was married to Aaf Kroon. They had three children. After an illness, he died on 4 December 2024, at the age of 78. He will be buried on 7 December and be buried at the Roman Catholic cemetery next to the Sint Vincentius Church [nl] in Volendam.[5][1]
