Hunter Skinner (born April 29, 2001) is an American professional ice hockey defenseman. He currently plays for the Springfield Thunderbirds of the American Hockey League (AHL) and is a prospect for the St. Louis Blues of the National Hockey League (NHL).
Career
Before playing in the NHL, Skinner played parts of two seasons with the Muskegon Lumberjacks and one season with the Lincoln Stars of the United States Hockey League (USHL) and one season with the London Knights of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL).
He was drafted 112th overall by the New York Rangers in the 2018 NHL entry draft. On March 29, 2021, Skinner signed a three-year entry-level contract to join the Rangers.[1] He was sent down to their AHL and ECHL-affiliates Hartford Wolf Pack, Utah Grizzlies and Jacksonville Icemen. He never played a game for the Rangers.
On February 9, 2023, the Rangers traded Skinner along with Sammy Blais, a 2023 conditional first-round draft pick, and a 2024 conditional fourth-round draft pick to the St. Louis Blues in exchange for Niko Mikkola and Vladimir Tarasenko.[2] He was then sent down to their AHL-affiliate Springfield Thunderbirds.
On November 14, 2025, the Blues called him up and Skinner made his NHL debut in a 6–5 shootout loss against the Philadelphia Flyers.[3] He was then sent back down to the Thunderbirds afterwards.
