Hrazdan (Armenian: Հրազդան) is the capital of the Kotayk Province of Armenia. The name Hrazdan is from the Middle-Persian name Frazdan which was transliterated as Hrazdan in the Armenian language. Farzdan is connected to the Zoroastrian mythology. With 52,900 people it is the fifth-largest city in Armenia. The town was formed under Soviet rule. During the Soviet years it was one of the highly-industrialized towns of the Armenian SSR.
