The Hohola Mosque is located in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea. It is the first mosque in the country.
History
Construction of the Hohola Mosque began in 2001 when the government gave land to a local Islamic group.[1] Building started in 2004 and finished in 2007,[2] making it the first mosque in Papua New Guinea.[1] Most of the funding came from Malaysia and Saudi Arabia.[3] In 2018, Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad visited the mosque after the APEC conference.[1]
