Herbert Kickl (born 19 October 1968) is an Austrian politician. He has been the leader of the Freedom Party of Austria (FPÖ) since June 2021. He has been a Member of the National Council since 2019. He was the Minister for the Interior from 2017 to 2019 and general-secretary of the FPÖ from 2005 to 2018.[1] He has been seen as a far-right politician.[2]
Kickl led the FPÖ into the 2024 legislative election in which his party won the most seats in the National Council.[3] The party won 29.2% of the vote, its best result in the party's history.[4]
