The crested casque-headed frog, Ecuador horned tree frog, rana de cabeza triangular de Ecuador, or rana de casco crestada (Hemiphractus bubalus) is a frog. It lives in Colombia, Peru, and Ecuador.[2][3][1]
Body
The adult male frog is about 43.8 mm long from nose to rear end and the adult female frog is about 57.9 mm long.[3]
Home
People see this frog in cloud forests full of moss. People see it sitting on tree branches and bushes. They only live in forests that human beings have not changed. Scientists have seen the frog between 300 and 2,000 m (980 and 6,560 ft) above sea level.[3][1]
Scientists have seen the frog in protected places, for example, Parque Nacional Cayambe-Coca and Parque Nacional Sumaco Napo-Galeras.[1]
Food
Scientists believe H. bubalus' eats other frogs.[1]
Young
The female frog carries her eggs on her back. The eggs hatch into small froglets, not swimming tadpoles.[3][1]
Danger
Scientists from the IUCN say the frogs are in some danger of dying out. This frog needs forests that people have not changed. People change the places where the frogs live to make things that people need and use, make places to live, make farms, make places to raise animals, and get wood to use. In some places, the frog is in danger from mining.[1]
