Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire is an American action-adventure science fiction monster movie directed by Adam Wingard. It is a sequel to Godzilla vs. Kong (2021) and is produced by Legendary Pictures and distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures. It is the fifth movie in the MonsterVerse franchise.
The movie is also the 37th in the Godzilla franchise, the 13th in the King Kong franchise, and the fifth Godzilla movie to be completely produced by a Hollywood studio. Legendary Pictures announced a sequel in March 2022 and that filming would commence later in the year. In May 2022, it was announced that Wingard would return to direct and Dan Stevens cast as the lead. Filming began in July 2022 in Gold Coast, Queensland and finished in November 2022.
The movie was originally scheduled to be released on March 15, 2024, but was pushed back to April 12, 2024. It was then pushed forward to March 29, the movie's current release date. in this film Kong is now played by mo-cap actor Allan Henry also played Skar King, replaced by Eric Petey in the sequel.
