"Give It Away" is a song by Red Hot Chili Peppers. Red Hot Chili Peppers is an American rock band. It is on the band's fifth studio album, Blood Sugar Sex Magik (1991). It is the lead single for the album. Warner Bros. Records released the single in September 1991. The music in the song was written by John Frusciante and Flea. They wrote it months before recording the album. Anthony Kiedis, the singer for the band, wrote the words to the song.[2]

The song was popular. It was number one on the Billboard Modern Rock Tracks music chart.[3] It was the band's first number one single. In 1992, the song went on the Billboard Hot 100. It was number nine on the UK Singles Chart.[4] The song won a Grammy Award in 1992. The band plays the song at many of their concerts.[5] They also played it at Super Bowl XLVIII in 2014.[6]
