George Winston (December 26, 1949 – June 4, 2023) was an American pianist . He was born in Michigan in 1949 but moved to Montana as a child. Most of his music was about the four seasons and landscapes in the United States .
He released his first album in 1972. Winston became popular with his 1980 album, Autumn , which was followed by Winter into Spring . His most successful album December was released in 1982. He released a total of 16 albums. His 1994 album Forest earned him a Grammy award .[ 1] [ 2]
Winston had thyroid cancer , skin cancer , and myelodysplastic syndrome . He died from cancer on June 4, 2023 in Santa Cruz, California at the age of 73.[ 3]
