Walker's marsupial frog (Gastrotheca walkeri) is a frog. It lives in Venezuela.[2][3][1]
Home
People see this frog on bushes, trees, and palm tree leaves, about 1 to 2 m (3 ft 3 in to 6 ft 7 in) above the ground in cloud forests and other forests on hills and mountains. People hear the male frogs call to the female frogs from bromeliad plants. This frog lives in the same place as G. ovifera and Flectonotus pygmaeus. Scientists have seen the frog between 650 and 1,200 m (2,130 and 3,940 ft) above sea level.[2][1]
There are two protected places where the frog lives: Henri Pittier National Park and Yurubí National Park.[1]
Young
The female frog carries her eggs on her back. The young come out as small froglets, not tadpoles.[1]
Danger
Scientists from the IUCN say this frog is in some danger of dying out. People change the places where the frog lives by cutting down too many trees to make towns and farms. The frog is also in danger from bad chemicals. Scientists have found the dangerous fungus Batrachochytrium dendrobatidis nearby, and it has killed other frogs that live nearby with the disease chytridiomycosis.[1]
