Frantz Omar Fanon (,[1] ;[2] French: [fʁɑ̃ts fanɔ̃]; 20 July 1925 – 6 December 1961), was a French West Indian[3][4][5] psychiatrist and political philosopher. Fanon was from the French colony of Martinique, which is now a a French department. His writing remains significant in the studies of postcolonialism, critical theory and Marxism.[6]
