First Monday in October is a 1981 American political comedy drama movie directed by Ronald Neame and based on the play of the same name by Jerome Lawrence and Robert E. Lee. It stars Walter Matthau, Jill Clayburgh, Barnard Hughes and Jan Sterling in her final feature movie role. It was distributed by Paramount Pictures and was released on August 21, 1981.
