Exact is a Dutch software company. The main services include accounting, ERP, and other software for small and medium enterprises. in 2019 it was serving more than 500,000 companies.[source?]

The main office is in Delft and others are in Europe, North America and Asia.

History

Exact was founded in 1984 by 6 freelancers Eduard Hagens, Rinus Dekker, Arco van Nieuwland, Paul van Keep, Paul Frijling and Leo Schonk.[1][2][1]

In 1995, the company opened offices in the United Kingdom and Russia.[3]

During next few years, Exact expanded in the international level by acquiring several companies:

  • Belgian firms Cobul and Cubic (1989),[2] Officient (2020),[4] Unit4 Bedrijfssoftware (2020)[5]
  • German firms Pcas, Bavaria Soft, Szymaniak (1997), Soft Research (1999)[2]
  • US firms JobBOSS and MAX (2000s),[6] Longview Solutions (2007)[7]
  • French firm Dièse Finance (2017)[8]
  • Dutch firms Reeleezee (2017),[9] Parentix, ProQuro and SRXP (2018)

In 2015, a group of investors led by Apax bought the company.[10]

In 2019, it was acquired by investor KKR.
