The Puyango bully foam frog, Puyango dwarf frog, or sapito bullanguero de Puyango (Engystomops puyango) is a frog. It lives in Ecuador.[2][3][1]

Body

The adult male frog is 23.78–30.48 mm long from nose to rear end and the adult female frog is 25.41–32.68 mm. The skin of the frog's back is gray-brown in color with darker marks. There is a cream-white mark under each eye. The sides of the body are gray in color. Parts of the belly are cream-pink in color. Other parts of the belly have gray marks. The iris of the eye is bronze in color.[3]

Name

Scientists named the frog for the place where they first found it:[3] Puyango Protected Forest.[4]

Home

This frog lives in forests where there is not much rain. This frog is good at living in places that people have changed. Scientists have seen the frog between 320 and 1,291 m (1,050 and 4,236 ft) above sea level.[3][1]

Scientists have seen the frogs in protected places: Puyango Protected Forest and Reserva Natural Lapiuna.[1]

Young

The male frogs float on the water and call to the female frogs. The frogs put their eggs in nests made out of bubbles that float on the water. The male frog makes the nest.[3][1]

Danger

Scientists from the IUCN say these frogs are not in danger of dying out. These frogs do not live in a very big place, but there are many frogs in that place. In some areas, the frogs may be in some danger when human beings cut down too many tress to make farms and place to raise animals. The frog is good at living in places that people have changed. People even see it in the Puyango River, even though it is full of bad chemicals.[1]
