Eavan Boland

Eavan Boland in 1996

Eavan Frances Boland[1] (24 September 1944 – 27 April 2020) was an Irish poet, author, and educator. She was a professor at Stanford University, where she had taught beginning in 1996.[2][3] Her poems were about Irish national identity, and the role of women in Irish history. She was a recipient of the Lannan Literary Award for Poetry. Boland was born in Dublin.

Boland died on 27 April 2020, aged 75, from a stroke.[4][5][6][7]
