Durand is a city in Pepin County, Wisconsin, United States. As of the 2020 census, 1,854 people lived there.[3] Durand is the seat of Pepin County. The city is in the Town of Durand.
Durand was first named Bear Creek.[4] It is on the banks of the Chippewa River about 15 miles (24 km) from its confluence with the Mississippi River.
History
The Durand area was first settled in 1856 by Miles Durand Prindle. Prindle came up the river in a keel boat named the "Dutch Lady." He took government land on the site of the present city. Durand became a city on April 12, 1887.[5]

Geography
The city has a total area of 1.86 square miles (4.82 km2). Of this, 1.75 square miles (4.53 km2) is land and 0.11 square miles (0.28 km2) is water.[6]
