Dome F
Dome F, also known as Dome Fuji, is a high, rounded area on the East Antarctic Ice Sheet. It is the second-highest ice dome in Antarctica, after Dome A. In 1963–1964, a land based Soviet Antarctic Expedition team travelled across the northern part of the dome at an elevation of over 3,600 metres (11,800 ft).[1]

Geography and Climate
Dome F is located at an elevation of about 3,810 meters (12,500 feet). Because of its high altitude and inland location, it is one of the coldest places on Earth. The average temperature is around -54.3 °C (-65.7 °F). It is also known for its extremely low humidity.
Scientific Research
Dome F is a very important location for ice core drilling. The Dome Fuji Station, a Japanese research base, is located here. Scientists at this station have drilled a very deep ice core, reaching a depth of over 3,000 meters (9,800 feet).
This ice core contains a record of Earth's past climate going back more than 720,000 years. By studying the air bubbles and layers of snow trapped in the ice, scientists can learn about past temperatures and the composition of the atmosphere. This information is crucial for understanding climate change over long periods.
