Jaylah Ji'mya Hickmon (born August 14, 1998), better known by her stage name as Doechii, is an American singer, songwriter, dancer, model, rapper and record producer. She has released two mixtapes, three extended plays (EPs), and thirty-one singles. She signed with Top Dawg Entertainment in 2022.[1]

In 2024, her second mixtape, Alligator Bites Never Heal (2024), reached number 10 on the Billboard 200 chart. It won Best Rap Album at the 67th Annual Grammy Awards.

Early life

Jaylah Hickmon was born on August 14, 1998, to Celesia Moore and rapper Snatcha Da Boss. She was raised by her mother in a Christian home.[2] She went to Howard W. Blake High School, a school that helped her be more creative. She did ballet, tap dancing, acting, cheerleading, and gymnastics.[3]

Personal life

Doechii enjoys listening to 1970s French jazz.[4] She is bisexual and wrote a public love letter to the LGBTQ+ community, which was published by Billboard in 2024.[5]
