Dave Gahan (/ɡɑːn/; born David Callcott; 9 May 1962) is an Englishsinger-songwriter. He is best known as the lead singer of the New wave band Depeche Mode. Gahan has been the singer for the band since it started in 1980. Q magazine listed him at No. 73 on its list of the "100 Greatest Singers".[1] He was No. 27 on its list of "The 100 Greatest Frontmen".[2] Gahan is known for his "commanding presence on stage"[3] and his "huge, deep baritone voice".[4] In 2020, Gahan was made a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Depeche Mode.[5]
