Cuneatus is an extinct genus of gar that lived in western North America during the early Paleogene period.[1] It is distinct from modern gar by its wedge-shaped (cuneate) head and a significantly shortened snout.[1] The genus has three species: C. cuneatus, C. wileyi[1], and C. maximus[2].
