Captain Con Power (born 1952 or 1953 – 3 November 2024) was an Irish show jumper .[ 1] [ 2] He has been described as "legendary"[ 3] and one of the Irish "greatest ever rider".[ 2]
He won three times in a row the Aga Khan Cup from 1977 to 1979 with the "iconic" Irish team with Eddie Macken , Paul Darragh and James Kernan . He also won the bronze medal at the 1979 European Show Jumping Championships in the team event.[ 4] He won many other awards between 1976 and 1979.[ 3] He retired (stopped) in 1988 after an accident .[ 1]
After a long illness, he died on 3 November 2024 at the age of 71 years.[ 3]
