Cody Ceci (born December 21, 1993) is a Canadian professional ice hockey defenceman. He currently plays for the Los Angeles Kings of the National Hockey League (NHL). Ceci has also played for the Ottawa Senators, Toronto Maple Leafs, Pittsburgh Penguins, Edmonton Oilers, San Jose Sharks, and Dallas Stars.

Career

Before playing in the NHL, Ceci played four seasons with the Ottawa 67's and one season with the Owen Sound Attack of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL). He had a successful time with his teams. He was named to back-to-back OHL Second All-Star Teams.[1]

He was drafted 15th overall by the Ottawa Senators in the 2012 NHL entry draft.[2] On August 23, 2012, Ceci signed a three-year, $2.775 million entry-level contract to join the Senators.[3] He was sent down to play for their AHL-affiliate Binghamton Senators.

On December 12, 2013, Ottawa called him up and Ceci made his NHL debut in a 2–1 win against the Buffalo Sabres.[4] On December 16, Ceci scored his first NHL goal and the overtime winner against Brian Elliott in a 3–2 overtime win against the St. Louis Blues.[5] On August 23, 2016, Ceci signed a two-year, $5.6 million contract to stay with the Senators.[6] On 3 August 2018, Ceci signed a one-year, $4,3 million contract to stay with the Senators.[7]

On July 1, 2019, the Senators traded Ceci along with Ben Harpur, Aaron Luchuk, and a 2020 third-round draft pick to the Toronto Maple Leafs in exchange for Connor Brown, Michael Carcone, and Nikita Zaitsev.[8]

On July 4, 2019, Ceci signed a one-year contract to stay with the Leafs.[9] Ceci played one season with the Leafs.

On October 17, 2020, Ceci signed a one-year, $1.25 million contract to join the Pittsburgh Penguins.[10] He scored 4 goals and recorded 13 assists for 17 points in 53 regular season games for the Penguins.

On July 28, 2021, Ceci signed a four-year, $13 million contract to join the Edmonton Oilers.[11] He played three seasons with the Oilers.

On August 18, 2024, the Oilers traded Ceci along with a 2025 third-round draft pick to the San Jose Sharks in exchange for Ty Emberson.[12] He scored 4 goals and recorded 11 assists for 15 points in 54 regular season games for the Sharks.

On February 1, 2025, the Sharks traded Ceci along with Mikael Granlund to the Dallas Stars in exchange for a 2025 first-round draft pick and a 2025 conditional third-round draft pick.[13] He recorded 9 assists in 39 regular season games for the Stars.

On July 1, 2025, Ceci signed a four-year, $18 million contract to join the Los Angeles Kings.[14]
