Clive Robert Benjamin Dunn OBE (9 January 1920 – 6 November 2012) was an English actor, comedian, singer, artist, and author. Dunn is most known for his role as Lance-Corporal Jones , the butcher (meat -cutter) in Dad's Army .
Life
Dunn was born and grew up in Covent Garden , London , in the United Kingdom . He went to school at Sevenoaks and at the Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts . As a child, he almost died from problems after his family got a doctor to remove his third nipple .[ 1]
Dunn spent four years as a prisoner of war in Nazi Germany during World War II .[ 2] He married Priscilla Morgan in 1959. They had two daughters, Jessica and Polly. Dunn and his family moved to Portugal where he spent his time painting until he became blind.[ 2] In 1975, he was created an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE).[ 2]
Death
Dunn died on the morning of 6 November 2012, in a hospital in Algarve , Portugal , from problems after a surgery . He was 92 years old.[ 3] He had worked in acting for almost 50 years.[ 2]
