Chanodichthys is a genus of cyprinids in the subfamily Cultrinae consisting of five species from East Asia. It is related to Culter.

Etymology

It is derived from chanos, which is Greek for "abyss, mouth opened, inmensity" and also the Greek word for fish, ichthys.
