Bulgaria Air

Bulgaria Air is the national airline (flag carrier) of Bulgaria. Its main office is at the Sofia Airport in the capital city, Sofia. The airline was started in 2002 to replace the older national airline, Balkan Bulgarian Airlines. It is now a private company owned by Chimimport AD. Bulgaria Air flies to many big cities in Europe and the Middle East, and also has flights inside Bulgaria to the seaside cities of Varna and Burgas.

In 2026, the airline expanded its travel routes to include new destinations like Porto, Portugal.[1] The airline uses a modern fleet of planes, including the Airbus A220, which is quieter and better for the environment.[2] It also works with other famous airlines like Air France, Qatar Airways, and KLM so that passengers can easily travel to hundreds of other places around the world.
