Black Jack, Kansas

Black Jack is an unincorporated community in Douglas County, in the U.S. state of Kansas.[1]

History

The Battle of Black Jack was fought near Black Jack Creek in 1856.[2]

Black Jack was created in 1857. It was named after nearby Black Jack Creek.[3] The creek was named for the Blackjack Oak trees along it.[4] A post office was created at Black Jack in 1858. It continued to be used until 1895.[5]
