Belichick in 2019
William Belichick (born April 16, 1952) was an American football coach. He was the head coach of the New England Patriots , a team in the National Football League (NFL). Many people think he is one of the best football coaches ever.[ 1] [ 2] He has won six Super Bowls as a head coach. He won all of them with the Patriots.[ 3] He also won two Super Bowls as a coach for the New York Giants .
Belichick started coaching in 1975.[ 4] In 1985, he became the coach for the New York Giants' defense . He worked with Bill Parcells on the Giants. Parcells and Belichick won two Super Bowls together.[ 5] In 1991, Belichick left the Giants. He became the head coach of the Cleveland Browns . He coached the Browns for five seasons. He was fired from the Browns in 1995.[ 6] He joined the New York Jets , but left the team after one day. He became the head coach of the New England Patriots on January 27, 2000.[ 7]
