After Ubaid Khan, the Uzbek leader, defeated the Timurid ruler Babur near Samarkand at Kul-i-Malik, Shah Ismail of Persia sent General Najm-i Thani to help Babur. However, at Ghujduwan, the Timurid and Persian forces were badly beaten. After this defeat, Babur decided to focus on his plans to conquer India, starting on November 12, 1512.[1][2]
