Vangeliya Pandeva Gushterova (née Surcheva; Macedonian: Вангелија Пандева Гуштерова, née Сурчева; (1911-10-03)3 October 1911  – (1996-08-11)11 August 1996), also known as Baba Vanga (Баба Ванѓа) was a Macedonian clairvoyant and mystic widely known for her well-renowned predictions and mysticism which arracted thousands of followers throughout her life. Gushterova, who was blind since she was teenager, after a whirlwind tossed her into a ditch and sand struck her eyes, spend most of her life in the rural Belasica Mountains of southwestern Bulgaria. During the Cold War, Gushterova was widely known for her reputed abilities of clairvoyance and mysticism throughout Southeastern Europe, but especially in Vardar Macedonia and in Bulgaria.

Biography

Vangeliya Pandeva Gushterova was born as Vangeliya Surcheva on (1911-10-03)3 October 1911 in the town of Strumica, Salonica vilayet, Ottoman Empire (in modern-day North Macedonia), to Macedonian parents. She was the eldest daughter of Pando Surchev and his wife, Parakskeva Surcheva.
