The arrondissement of Clamecy is an arrondissement of France. It is part of the Nièvre département in the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region. Its capital is the city of Clamecy.
History
When the Nièvre department was created on 17 February 1800, the arrondissement of Clamecy was part of that original department.[2]
Geography
The arrondissement of Clamecy is bordered to the north and northeast by the Yonne (Burgundy) department, to the southeast by the arrondissement of Château-Chinon (Ville), to the southwest by the arrondissement of Nevers and to the west by the arrondissement of Cosne-Cours-sur-Loire.
It is found in the northern part of the department, with an area of 1,464 km2 (565 sq mi).[3] It has 24,993 inhabitants and a population density of 17.1 inhabitants/km².[4]
