Angie Thomas is a writer from the United States of America. She writes young adult and middle grade books. She is known best for her book The Hate U Give, which came out in 2017.The Hate U Give was considered for the National Book Award and won a Michael L. Printz Award honor. Many people bought The Hate U Give. It was a on the New York Times Bestseller List for more than 80 weeks.[1] The Hate U Give has 19 awards and honors. It has also been made into a movie.[2] She has written five books.

Origin as a writer
When Thomas was six years old, she saw people shooting guns in her hometown of Jackson, Mississippi.[3] This event made her want to be a writer.[3] She wrote “The Hate U Give” when she worked as a secretary for a bishop.[3]
