Amatsukami
In Shinto Amatsukami (Japanese: 天津神, 天つ神; 'Kami of heaven') are the gods of the heavens. They were born in or live in Takamagahara. [1]
Amatsukami is one of the three types of kami. The other types are Kunitsukami (国津神, 国つ神) or earth gods, and yaoyorozu-no-kami (八百万の神) or minor gods.[2]: 56
Many myths in the Nihon Shoki and the Kojiki are about Amatsukami and Kunitsukami fighting.[3]
In the time of Ninigi the Amatsukami took control of the land from the Kunitsukami. This is called the kuni-yuzuri.[4][5]
Susanoo-no-Mikoto was born in Takamagahara, but since he was kicked out, he is a Kunitsukami. Ōkuninushi and his other descendants are also Kunitsukami.
