Alexey Leonidovich Toropchenko (Russian: Алексей Леонидович Торопченко; born 25 June 1999) is a Russian professional ice hockey forward. He currently plays for the St. Louis Blues of the National Hockey League (NHL). Outside of the NHL, Toropchenko played for the Kunlun Red Star of the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL).

Career

Before playing in the NHL, Toropchenko played two seasons with the Guelph Storm of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL).

He was drafted 113th overall by the St. Louis Blues in the 2017 NHL entry draft. On 13 December 2018, Toropchenko signed a three-year, $2.775 million entry-level contract to join the Blues.[1] He was sent down to their AHL-affiliate San Antonio Rampage.

On 5 April 2019, the Blues called him up and Toropchenko made his NHL debut in a 4–1 win against the Dallas Stars.[2] On 9 February 2022, Toropchenko signed a one-year, $750,000 contract to stay with the Blues.[3] On 19 March 2022, he scored his first NHL goal against Elvis Merzļikins in a 5–4 loss against the Columbus Blue Jackets.[4] On 16 July 2023, Toropchenko signed a two-year, $2.5 million contract to stay with the Blues.[5] On 29 October 2024, Toropchenko signed a one-year, $1.7 million contract to stay with the Blues.[6]

Personal life

Toropchenko's father Leonid was also a professional hockey player who played 14 seasons in the NHL. His father died from a heart attack in May 2017.[7]
